Mabon 2010

Priestess begins:
“Hand to hand we cast the circle,”
The priestess walks to the next person in the circle and takes the hand to her left.
“In Perfect Love and Perfect Trust.”
They continue around the circle, walking to the next person and as each person clasps the hand to their left they say:
“In Perfect Love and Perfect Trust.”

Priestess, raising her hands, still linked, group follows:
“We consecrate this circle of power to the Goddess and God.
Here may they manifest and bless their children.
This is a time that is not a time,
In a place that is not a place,
On a day that is not a day.
We come now to celebrate Mabon!
We stand before the veil of mysteries.
May the Lord and Lady help and protect us on our magical journey.”

Greeting to the Goddess and God:
“We call upon the blessed Lady, queen of the harvest, giver of life and plenty since before life began. Bestow upon us your joy and beauty, power and prosperity. Be with us in our celebrations of the turning of your year.
We call upon the Lord of the harvest, sacred king, giver of riches and protection since before time began. Bestow upon us your strength and laughter, power and prosperity. Be with us in our celebrations of the turning of your year.”

Invocation:
“The Wheel turns on – ’tis Mabon-tide.
Dawn and dusk abreast now ride
darkness, brightness, calm and storms.
The hand that holds the scythe transforms.
I vow this wisdom shall be my own:
poise will let my power be known.
From balance the Wheel now turns toward the deep.
Through Winter, by vow and faith, I’ll keep.”

Preistess:
“As the leaves loose the green of summer we look again to the obvious turnings of the wheel. In the oranges and browns of autumn we see the Crone coming to her full power.
As the second harvest festival, Mabon is a time of giving thanks for what we have achieved over the last year, as well as a time to look at the paths laid out before us and begin to make our choices for the coming winter.
Many see the cold months ahead as a death. Surely we should celebrate these things, because we know that without death, without ending, we cannot start fresh.
If the crops continued through the autumn and winter there would be no place in the garden for new life come spring. And it is the same with our lives.
We must allow some things to end, and attempt this with grace. So that we can move past them to new things, new experiences and new blessings.”

“As the chill in the air grows lets warm ourselves with the joy of giving thanks. Let us dance and call out. Let us drum and build power. For the power of thanks can be our magic tonight.”

Dance around the fire with drums, rattles, etc. calling out what they are thankful for and the blessings they have received over the last year. When the power is at its peak the Priestess will signal and all will lift their arms skyward to release the energy to the world.

Cakes and Ale:
Lift the chalice of wine or cider high and say:
“We drink this wine in praise to the Goddess, created from the fruits of her earth. May you never thirst!”

Pass around the chalice clockwise saying:
“May you never thirst!”

Lift the plate of rolls or cakes high and say:
“We eat these cakes in praise to the Goddess, created from the grains of her earth. May you never hunger!”

Pass around the plate clockwise saying:

Go if you must, stay if you will.
Merry Meet and Merry Part and Merry Meet Again.”
